Woodbridge Tea Dances Raise £1800 For Charity

Every Tuesday afternoon around 40 dancers gather in the Woodbridge Community Centre for a tea dance. As this is a normal work day, most of those attending are retired.

Music is provided by Peter Last, 63, playing his Hammond organ. He and his wife Rachael, who live in Horham near Eye, have been coming to the tea dances for around three years. Peter also plays at the Felixstowe Leisure Centre on Thursday afternoons.

During the afternoon a raffle is organised by Keith Barrett, 75, and his wife Mary, who travel in from Leiston. Over the last couple of years this raffle has raised £1800 for charity. Most of this has been shared between the Ipswich Hospital Special Care Baby Unit and Ipswich's St Elizabeth Hospice. Recently the South Suffolk branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society received £200 and they will continue to benefit in the future.
